NGA Hooters Tour Michelob Classic

Jacksonville, Fla...Defending champion Kevin Blanton returned to the
winner's circle afterposting a 1-under par 71 and winning the Michelob
Classic by a single stroke over Chad Campbell and Heath Slocum. Blanton's
8-under par total was the exact same score that he had last year, but
this one was a better finish. "Last year I had a bad back nine," smiled
Blanton. "This year, I worked with Louis Brown (in Atlanta) on my swing
and on my patience, and it really helped this year. I've always wanted
to win a tournament by 2-putting the 18th hole, and that's what I did
today." The tournament was played over the cold and blustery Champions
Club in Jacksonville, Florida. Temperatures held steady in the low 50's
with 20 mph winds most of the day, which made the course harder to judge.
"The greens were so fast," continued Blanton. "It was so hard to judge
their speed."
Next week the NGA Hooters Tour moves to El Diablo Golf and Country Club
in Citrus Springs, Florida (just south of Ocala) for the $100,000 Hooters
Classic.
