Sunset Hills, Mo... Michael Connell, of Richardson TX, shot a final
round four-under par 68 to hold onto the lead and win the Stations
Casino Classic at Tapawingo National Golf Club in Sunset Hills, MO.
Connell shot a total of twenty-under for the tournament, and held
off Jean-Paul Hebert, of Houston TX, and Zoran Zorkic, of Kingwood
TX. Hebert and Zorkic each shot a four-under par 68 on the final day,
but were unable to gain any ground on Connell. This is Connell's
second consecutive victory on the NGA Hooters Tour and is 51-under
par over his last eight rounds of tournament play. Connell won the
Delta Performers Pontiac Classic last week in Sikeston MO. "I continued
to putt the ball, well this week," said Connell. "I hit the ball even
better this week than last week. I didn't make as many putts this
week as I did last week, but I hit the ball closer to the pin." "I
got off to a slow start on the back nine, and I bogied the par five
15th," continued Connell. "I then made a tough putt on fourteen for
par, and felt pretty confident that I could hold on for the victory."
The NGA Hooters Tour will be in Tunica, MS next week for the Casino
Strip Resorts Classic at Riverbend Links.
