Bay St. Louis, MS...O'Keefe fires a 3 under 69 to capture Casino Magic
Classic title. Jack O'Keefe of Louisville, Ky. wins by three strokes
for his first NGA Tour victory since 1995. O'Keefe won twice that year
and also capatured the Points Championship as well. O'Keefe will take
home the first place winner's check of $20,000 for his efforts this week.
"I felt comfortable starting out the day one stroke behind" said O'Keefe.
He was one stroke behind third round leader Eric Bogar. Bogar finished
with a disappointing final round score of 78 good for 11th place. "I
didn't want to beat myself out there today," commented O'Keefe.
Matthew Russell, Alpharetta, Ga., tried to run down O'Keefe by shoting
a final round 6 under 66 to finish in a tie for second. Stephen Ubernosky
also completed the tournament at 278 along with Russell. It is the highest
finish ever for Ubernosky of Houston, Texas.
The tour now moves on to The Big Easy for next week's event at Stonebridge
C.C. The Boomtown Cassino Classic will run from Thursday through Sunday,
August 24 - 28 in New Orleans.
