Dawsonville, Ga...It was never that close. Chad Campbell ran away with
his third title in 5 weeks on the NGA/Hooters Tour. He started the day
with a 3 shot lead and he finished with a 9 stroke advantage. He was
the only player in the field to finish the Gold Creek Classic under par.
"He played incredible all week and all year for that matter," said
runner-up Kyle Owen. "To make one bogey this weekend, with these
conditions, is amazing." It is also Campbell's second consecutive
victory, he finished at 9-under par and fired a 4-under par 66 today.
Vaughn Taylor and Kyle Owen were tied for second place at even par 280.
Bill Lunde, who started the day in 2nd place, finished alone in 4th
place after firing a 4-over par 74. Campbell made birdies at holes
4, 7, 14 and 16. "I'm very excited to be playing so well this early
in the year," said Campbell. "The course this week was in great shape,
the maintenance crew did an outstanding job getting the greens and
fairways in immaculate condition."
In five tournaments thus far this year, Campbell is 54-under par
and has made over $65,000. Next week the NGA/Hooters Tour moves
to Columbia, South Carolina for the Michelob Light Classic at Oak
Hills Golf Club.
