Kendallville, IN....Chad Campbell wins his sixth NGA Tour title in
eleven events. Campbell, Andrews, TX., fired a 7 under par, 65, to
finish at 21 under par. Eric Epperson, Plano, TX., the leader the
first three days, had a chance to make birdie on the final hole but
failed with a 25 footer. The two finshed at 21 under par for the
tournament. "My plan today was to go out and make as many birides
as possible because scores had been low all week, said Campbell.
"The golf course was in excellent condition and the scores showed it."
The playoff began on the par five eighteenth hole. Epperson played his
second shot to about thirty feet and two putted for birdie. Campbell
played his second shot to about ten feet and made the put for eagle
and the $20,000 first place check. "I knew how the putt was going to
break, I just needed to get it to the hole," commented Campbell.
"I had left the putt on eighteen before short."
Jack Boeckx, Mt. Pleasant, SC., finished all alone in third place
by firing a final round 70 to finish 4 back of Campbell. The NGA
Tour now takes a week off before beginning play in Virginia on
July 6th. The Hooters Classic will be played at the Cypress Creek
Golfer's Club in Smithfield, VA.
