Gretna, LA....Tyler Williamson wins the Boomtown Casino Classic with a
final round 4 underpar 68. He holds off Bobby Elliott by one to win his
second NGA Tour event of the year. The win now puts Williamson into
second place on the 2000 Official Tour Earnings with over $67,000 for
the season. Williamson of Decatur, Alabama and Elliott of Plano, Texas
went head to head down the wire. Williamson was able to curl in a 15
foot birdie on sixteen to take a one stroke lead.
Williamson has also moved into second place on the 2000 Naturally Fresh
Points Championshiprace where he finds himself 241 points behind Chad
Campbell with two events remaining beforethe Tour Championship in late
September in Fayetteville, Georgia. Williamson will take home $20,000 for
his efforts this week.
"I had a real good week stroking the ball on the greens," said Williamson.
"I wanted to keep myself in the event and not make any mistakes out
there," said Williamson. "If I was to lose, someone was going to have
to beat me."
Jeremy Wilkinson of South Bend, Indiana finished in third place all alone
at 272. This was Wilikinson's best finish in an NGA Tour event an he will
take home $5,000 for the third place finish. Todd Pinneo of Fayetteville,
Arkansas finished in fourth place with a four day total of 273, 15 under
par.
Tne NGA Tour now moves further west to San Antonio, Teaxs where next
weeks event will be held at the Olympia Hills Golf & Conference Center.
The tournament starts Thursday, August 31st.
