Ocala, Florida... For the sixth time in three years Chad Campbell has
won an NGA/Hooters Tour tournament. The Country Club at Silver Spring
Shores was his victim this year and ironically he also won in Ocala last
year, but at a different golf course.
Campbell, who earned $20,000 for the victory, separated himself from the
field with his 6-under par 66 to finish 6 strokes better than Tim Straub.
"I just didn't make any mistakes today," said Campbell. "I only missed
one green and didn't have any bogeys." Bill Lunde, who started the day
one stroke off the lead, never got his game on track. He finished with
a 75 and 8-under par for the tournament, tied for 7th. "It was hard
playing with him (Bill Lunde, Campbell's college teammate)," said
Campbell. "Because I was pulling for him the whole round, it was tough
because I know he was struggling." Eric Epperson and Mike Tschetter
finished alone in third place at 11-under par.
Next week the NGA/Hooters Tour moves to North Augusta, South Carolina
for the Kandy Waters Memorial Classic at the River Golf Club.
