Wilmington, NC....Chad Campbell comes from one back to claim his
seventh NGA Tour event in fourteen attempts during the 2000 campaign.
Campbell, Andrews, TX., fired a 5 under par, 66 to win by three shots
over Scott Hebert, Gladstone, MI. Hebert, the third round leader, shot
a one under par, 70 today. "I am very happy with my performance this
week considering I never got a look at the golf course until the first
round," said Hebert. Hebert was participating in the Tournament of
Champions in hos home state of Michigan.
"I hit alot of fairays and greens today and I was able to make a few
putts," said Campbell. "My game plan was to give myself those putts
and not get in trouble," commented Campbell. Campbell will now look
to win his eigthth event of the year next week in Myrtle Beach.
Campbell has now won over $150,000 this season.
Jamie Rogers, Bellevue, Neb., vaulted himself into third by shooting
a 6 under par, 66. The round was suspended for about an hour this
morning when thunder and lightning moved into the Wilmington area.
The round of the day was turned in by Esteban Isazi of Paraguay with
a 6 under par, 65 and it put him in a three way tie for fourth.
Amateur Josh Goldstein, Wilmington, NC., finished in a tie for 48th
after a final round even par.
